Turning a Room into a Real Zoo!

Author: KatiesWorld, 04 20th, 2009

Most toddlers are fascinated with animals, and for most if not all children, there’s nothing better than a trip to the zoo.  When a toddler starts to display that certain fascination with animals, it’s a nice gesture to redesign their room into a real zoo.  Kids love animals like zebras, elephants, gorillas, hippos, and rhinos, and when decorating a room, it’s a good idea to keep these big animals in mind or other animals that have drawn their fascination.  To get started decorating, a good place to begin is the walls.  Paint the walls a tropical color and provide a border of wallpaper featuring animals.  You might even do some animal silhouettes on the walls.  Next address the bedding: consider animal comforters, and stuffed animals that can serve as pillows.  The last step is to accessorize the room with all sorts of fun animal décor.  Don’t be afraid to get creative, and also, thrift stores are a great option for finding fun accessories.

Your child will thank you once you’ve finished their indoor zoo, and their room will prove a fun place to sleep, play, and be with mom and dad for years to come.

Practical Gift Ideas for a Baby Shower

Author: KatiesWorld, 10 27th, 2008

The baby shower provides an opportunity for family and friends to assist new mothers
in purchasing all the necessities for their new baby.  Many essential items like strollers, car seats, baby cribs, and high chairs are quite expensive, more than most family members and friends can afford.  Here is a list of several smaller items that can be purchased on a reasonable budget:

  • Clothes of all sizes from newborn to toddler are affordable and will be much appreciated by a new mother who doesn’t have time to shop while her baby is growing.
  • Baby hampers are great for all those clothes; it’s not uncommon for a baby to change clothes three or four times a day!
  • Bottles are great for a formula feeding mother, while there are pillows, shields, and creams for a breastfeeding mother.
  • Toys are another option; stuffed animals, plushes, and rattles provide entertainment for the infant and the mother.

Origins of the Moses Basket

Author: KatiesWorld, 10 27th, 2008

The story of Moses is told in the book of Exodus, and begins in ancient times when the Egyptians ruled.  The Egyptian King was fearful of the Israelites, and because of this decreed that every newborn Hebrew boy be drowned in the Nile, and all girls be spared.  During this time, a Hebrew woman bore a son, and concealed him for three months.  When she could no longer hide him, she covered a reed basket with tar to make it watertight, placed her baby in it, and laid it at the river’s edge on the Nile.  The Egyptian King’s daughter discovered the basket and found the baby inside, taking him as her own son and naming him Moses.

Over the years, Moses baby basket has been much refined from the original, and is now an appealing item for new mothers.  The modern basket is cushioned and lined with beautiful fabrics, and offers a warm, snug environment for new babies.
