The Ideal Crib for Your Infant
, 05 21st, 2009
When it comes to choosing the right crib, it’s about more than size and cost, it’s also about protecting infants. It’s important that cribs don’t have sharp edges that could be a danger to a small child, and it’s also important that cribs don’t have any areas where an infants hand or foot could become caught. The best cribs tend to be round cribs, as these don’t have sharp edges. It’s also important that a crib be assembled in the proper manner (if assembly is required). Even if just installing a canopy to an existing crib, make sure all the correct bolts are tightened and in place, and that there’s nothing on the crib that could be of potential danger to the infant.
When choosing crib bedding, make sure to pick the right size for the crib, as bedding that is too small or large can expose the hard bottom of the crib which can be a danger to infants. Crib bedding should have soft padding, and be snug inside the crib. It’s a good idea to have extra blankets in the crib, as well as softer toys like stuffed animals with which the child can interact. With soft, warm, and cuddly crib bedding, parents shouldn’t be surprised if their infant sleeps longer!
Caring for Twin Babies
, 01 26th, 2009
It’s a wonderful thing to be gifted with two newborn babies at the same time, but if the parents aren’t careful, they can be quite a handful. When caring for twins, it’s best to purchase baby care products designed for two babies. This will ensure that caring for the two babies is more convenient for the mother and father. Items like twin strollers, twin high chairs, and twin round cribs will help the parents to care for both babies at the same time, though they will have their individual needs.
When the twins grow up, it’s also a good idea to provide them with similar clothing and toys, but still make sure they’re able to identify themselves as individuals. You don’t want one twin to believe he or she is favored over the other, and jealousy is a common occurrence between twins, especially at a young age.
Newborn Light Sleepers
, 12 31st, 2008
Quite possibly the most renowned light sleepers are newborn babies, liable to wake up at the slightest sound, softest light, or even a gentle touch. To save parents a lot of headache, it’s important to keep your newborn as comfortable as possible while they’re resting. They will no doubt wake up at some point, but with proper care, you might be able to get a few more minutes of sleep at night! To help your newborn sleep for an extended period of time, you might consider a bed canopy to keep out light and filter some of the sound. You’ll also want to make sure your infant is warm enough, but not too warm, lest it will cause them to wake up unexpectedly. It’s also important to keep your baby’s crib in a room that is far away from foot traffic if possible. Remember too, you can always use a baby monitor to keep an ear on them while you’re around the house.
With proper preparation, your baby is much more likely to sleep soundly at night, and you can hopefully sleep a little more soundly yourself!
